Parent to Parent In a Nutshell...
P2P? PEAK? PEP?
When we are
out and about in various communities
talking with parents and professionals
we often hear people confusing these
three 'P' acronyms. Here is what we
often say…
P2P is Parent to
Parent of Colorado (a service of CP
of Colorado):
P2P
connects families with other families
(through our matching service and our
listserv. (See below for more!)
P2P serves families with sons and
daughters birth through life.
PEAK Parent Center (a non-profit
located in Colorado Springs):
PEAK is
the federally designated Parent Training
and Information Center for Colorado
under the Individuals with Disability
Education Act (IDEA). PEAK offers
workshops on 'Understanding IEPs' and
other topics and holds an annual
conference called the 'Conference on
Inclusive Education. PEAK also offers
parent advisors who talk with families
about school related issues such as IEPs
and 504 plans. PEAK serves families
with children birth through age 26.
PEP (Parents Encouraging Parents) is a
conference that is offered for families
twice each year and is sponsored by the
Colorado Department of Education. This
conference is over three days and two
nights, is free to families (lodging,
meals and educational component). PEP
serves families with children birth
through age 21.
These organizations aren't related but
work together to support families in
Colorado raising children with
disabilities.

Parent to Parent of Colorado
(although we do our best to support parent-friendly
organizations.)
